A local aviation company raised fresh funding from return investor Baillie Gifford. The funds will be used to accelerate Joby’s early production, enabling the business to capitalize on near-term revenue opportunities. One Los Angeles-based venture capital firm closed its fund of $50 million with plans to invest in sectors including health and wellness and sustainability.

Joby Aviation, a Santa Cruz-based transportation company developing an all-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft raised $180 million in capital from Baillie Gifford.

Per an SEC filing, Santa Monica-based company creating immersive entertainment experiences, Super League Gaming raised $10.2 million in funding.

Los Angeles-based online research data platform Essenvia raised a $4 million pre Series A funding round led by Benhamou Global Ventures and Wavemaker360.

Gigs, a Los Angeles-based platform helping people find hourly jobs, raised a $2.7 million pre-seed funding round led by Slauson & Co.

San Diego-based project management and document control software company eSUB Inc raised $2 million in funding, per an SEC filing.

Fourward Ventures, a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm, raised a $50 million fund from a mix of family offices, financiers and celebrities to invest in consumer-driven startups.

At Lowercarbon Capital’s LA Tech Week event Thursday, the synergy between the region’s aerospace industry and greentech startups was clear.
