Blockchain technology company Decentralized Social (DeSo) named former Meta exec Salil Shah as chief operating officer.

Climate tech company CarbonCapture Inc. appointed Robert Whyte as vice president of projects. Whyte previously served as operations manager for Suncor Energy Service.

Biocept welcomed Quyen Dao-Haddock to its board of directors. Dao-Haddock served as the CAO for Presidio Property Trust.

Justin Mika joined PhenoVista Biosciences, a leading provider of advanced phenotypic discovery services board of directors. Mika recently served as AlivaMab Discovery Services (ADS) CEO.

BioMed Realty, a leading provider of real estate solutions to life science and technology added Ankit Patel as chief financial officer and executive vice president. Prior to joining, Patel served as the senior vice president, corporate finance and capital markets at Ventas.

Artificial intelligence company RAD AI hired Christopher Robert (“CR”) Celona as strategic advisor for corporate development and Alexander Wissner-Gross, as its founding advisor. Celona has held positions at Vimeo, NBC-Universal and Walmart, while his colleague Wissner-Gross taught at MIT and Harvard and was the only individual in MIT history to receive a triple major.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are approaching again, and as always this holiday season is a scammer’s favorite time of year.

Spending on Black Friday was up nearly 30% in 2021 from the prior year, both in-store and online (though e-commerce saw a smaller jump, up about 11%), according to ABC News. And although this past year has been marked by rising costs of nearly everything from food to fuel, shoppers surveyed by PwC indicated they plan to spend about the same amount as last year, with Millennials leading the charge.
