Southern California is beginning to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and new job opportunities in advanced industries, such as mobility and transportation, are on the way.

"SoCal, with Los Angeles at its center, is more and more the premiere ecosystem for technology and transportation innovation" said John Rossant, CEO of CoMotion.

In order to shine a light on trends and investment opportunities in emerging mobility, dot.LA is partnering with CoMotion to host Motivate SOCAL.

The half day virtual event, set for May 19, 2021 in Los Angeles, will feature a mix of panels, startup pitches, and networking gatherings for venture capitalists, business development leaders, investors, policy-makers, and mobility enthusiasts. The event will also serve as a platform for regional startups — seed to Series A stage — to pitch to a national and international audience.

"Los Angeles is the world's mobility incubator. We're so excited to team up with our friends at CoMotion to shine a light on some of these trends and the innovative companies that are building the next generation of transportation," said Sam Adams, CEO of dot.LA.

Electric Vehicles Battery Tech USA 2021 Exhibition And Conference

Welcome to the Electric Vehicles BATTERY TECH USA 2021 Exhibition and Conference where electric vehicle battery technology innovators will meet with leading automotive manufacturers to explore new battery technologies and battery management systems for use in next generation electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles.

The world's fleet of electric vehicles grew to over 5 million units last year. Within a decade, there will be enough electric cars on the road for every person in California, as global electric vehicle ownership is estimated to reach 40 million units by 2025. China posted the largest electric vehicle growth rates followed by the United States, with electric vehicle sales more than doubling from the previous year.

Spurred by policies that encourage drivers to purchase clean-running cars, the uptake of electric vehicles is still largely driven by the policy environment, as the top 10 leading countries in electric vehicle markets all have a range of policies to promote electric cars with the US, Europe and China being the biggest takers. For China, credits and subsidies will help EVs grow to account for more than a quarter of the car market by 2030. Meanwhile, tightening emissions standards and higher fuel taxes in Europe boost electric vehicles.

The development of battery technologies and battery management systems relies on the latest in research and design, manufacturing processes, and technical know-how to develop robust and reliable electric components to support the next generation of electric vehicles. While overall battery costs are falling, government policy remains critical to making EV & HEVs attractive to drivers, encouraging investment and helping carmakers achieve economies of scale.

This year's BATTERY TECH USA 2021 is set to become the world's leading exhibition and conference exclusively for battery technology innovators and manufacturers, to meet and collaborate with a large array of automotive manufacturers, and to examine new methods and technical know-how to address the specific challenges associated with extending battery life for next generation electric vehicles.

Key topics on this year's agenda include:

  • Electric vehicles economic outlook and industry forecasts
  • Exploring new battery technologies and battery management systems
  • Latest research in extending battery range for electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles
  • New manufacturing processes and technical know-how to achieve economies of scale
  • Upcoming regulations and safety standards for the electric vehicle market
  • Manufacturer case studies on electric vehicles design and development

This exhibition and conference will provide a forum for all stakeholders across the electric vehicles battery supply chain; from suppliers and service providers to equipment manufacturers for the automotive industry, to network and build cross-market relationships and to discuss the real challenges and opportunities in extending drive range and battery life to meet the needs of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles.
